Body found following cliff plunge
A body has been found after a vehicle plunged off 100-metre high cliffs at a beauty spot.
Hampshire Police received a report in the early hours of Thursday morning that the vehicle had been seen going off the cliffs at Culver Down on the Isle of Wight.
A short time earlier the force had received a call raising concerns for a 20-year-old man who had driven off in a van from his home in Newport.
Efforts by emergency teams to reach the vehicle were hampered by poor weather conditions and the incoming tide.
A police spokesman said: "Police can confirm a body has been located in the Culver cliff area of the Isle of Wight.
"Formal identification has yet to take place.
"Detectives are in the process of informing the family of a missing 20-year-old man from Newport on the island.
"The discovery of the body is not being treated as suspicious at this time."
Paul Charles, 53, and his wife Jacqueline, 48, were killed when they drove off the same cliff in their Renault Scenic car in August last year.
An inquest heard the pair had a "destructive relationship" and the coroner recorded verdicts of suicide.
