BACK in March we published a photograph of Tipton steelworkers from around 1900, which included Thomas Russell, the grandfather of the sender Alan Mason, and the father of his mother Joan, who is now in her 94th year. Joan asked if any of her generation would get in touch.
Following this Alan and his mother received replies from several readers.
“One of them proved most interesting”, writes Alan. “The daughter of Mr Arthur Lamb, who used to keep a grocery shop in Yew Tree Lane, Coseley, contacted me and sent a very interesting photograph.
“The photo is we think to do with billiards and shows a large group of men outside a building that was either in Wesley Street, Bradley or the Conservative Club in Bilston.
“Arthur Lamb senior is in the second row third from left and my mother’s brother Fred Russell is front row, seated sixth from the left.
“Can anyone throw more light on the photo, where it was taken, what was the occasion, and who else is in the photo?”.
