THE appearance of a pretty mermaid at West Midland Safari Park has left visitors all at sea - particularly as being situated in the Heart of England, the Park couldn't be much further away from the ocean.

The rather unusual visitor to Penguin Cove arrived to launch Love Oceans week that is being hosted next week from March 17-23.

'Sponsor a Mermaid' is just one of the activities that will be taking place to raise funds for the Marine Conservation Society, as staff at the Park pledge to raise as much money as they can for various conservation charities during 2014.

In an effort to boost charity funds, the Marine Mammal keepers have put themselves forward to dress up as mermaids on Saturday, March 22.

They will settle themselves on the beach in Penguin Cove from 11am and for every £50 raised they will stay there for half an hour - whatever the weather.
