Netherton memories of going to Tin Can College

I READ the letter in The Bugle (January 16 edition) that John Darby had submitted. It brought back many childhood memories. I didn't swim in the canal but I know all the areas John mentioned.

I also went to the Iron Schools, also known as the Tin Can College.

I also remember Mr Daddy Precious very well. I was born in Bowling Green Road, Netherton, so I recall all the places he mentioned, the Whimsy, the railway track that went across Bowling Green Road through where Tewkesbury Drive houses are now, past Barnsley's factory, down into Dudley Wood, across the Woodman car park and into the now Nature Reserve.

When I was a child both sides of Bowling Green Road at the top were full of fields to play in.
