I WAS interested to read the article in The Bugle regarding the ABC Cinema at Carters Green known as The Tower. I was indeed an ABC minor and I and my friends used to go on the Saturday morning and as I lived by the old church, we used to walk via Johnson Bridge and then over the old pit bonks (banks) to the cinema.

Along the way we used to play and if it was close to November 5 we used to buy fireworks, in particular rockets, bangers and jumping jacks to let off - a great time was had by all.

In later years the cinema, which used to have double seats on the side, was very popular for courting couples and the seats were soon taken by the couples, great times.
