A TEENAGER from Wolverhampton met HRH The Princess Royal, the patron of St John Ambulance, at the charity's annual Young Achievers' Reception.

Elizabeth Corbett, 16, known as Lizzy, was among more than 80 young people who were invited to the reception at Buckingham Palace last week.

The event honoured St John Ambulance Badgers, Cadets, and young carers who have all made outstanding contributions as young volunteers with the organisation.

Lizzy, who lives in Wednesfield, was nominated to attend the prestigious ceremony for her commitment to first aid and for encouraging more people to learn basic life saving skills.

The teenager, who attends Heath Park High School, has been a volunteer with St John Ambulance since 2007, becoming the fourth generation of her family to join the first aid charity.
