Legion plea for WW1 mementoes

WITHIN our Royal British Legion branch and club we have a great deal of memorabilia remembering many who served in World War One.

As we are approaching the 100th commemoration of the start of the Great War, we as a branch want to put together an archive for the local community and schools to use.

We want every man who served from the Oldbury and Langley area to be remembered as an individual, not just a number, a set of medals or a name on a memorial.

Therefore, if any of your readers have any photographs, family histories or information we could copy, we would be extremely grateful for their co-operation.

As you can imagine for an area of our size this is going to be a project that will take many years. We have begun our research with artefacts that were found under the club stage some years ago, as we knew very little about these servicemen.

I hope your Bugle readers can be of help. Regards

Richard Dodds,

Branch Secretary,

Oldbury Royal British Legion.

0121 552 1248.
