THE Tipton Civic Society have organised a special Slasher Day for Sunday, May 4.

Sponsored by the Tipton and Coseley Building Society, the day marks the 21st anniversary of the unveiling of the statue to the champion boxer William Perry, the celebrated Tipton Slasher.

Taking place in Coronation Gardens, around the local hero's statue, from midday to 4pm, there will be boxing re-enactments, period entertainments, historic slide shows, canal boat trips and the launch of a new book on the Slasher.
