Pelsall musician off to Palace

FOLLOWING the presentation of the British Empire Medal last month to Mrs June Davenhill for her Services to Music and the Community by the Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands, Mr. Paul Sabathy CBE, she was due to attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace yesterday (Wednesday).

In 1961 she became Musical Director of Pelsall Townswomen's Guild Choir, which became Pelsall Ladies Choir in 1963. June has been at the helm continuously for the past 51 years – she may be the longest serving Musical Director in the country! She also assists in co-ordinating local musical activities with other schools and choirs.
