A READER was shocked when she bought a copy of The Bugle's World War One book and saw her Uncle Tom Hunter's photograph on the front cover of We Will Remember Them.

Mrs Isobel Byrne, of Manderley, 22A Oakham Road, Dudley, said: "I have to say I was overwhelmed with mingled feelings of pride, humility and sadness - so proud to think he and his mates' photo was deemed worthy to grace the front cover; humble to think I played some small part in bringing it about, and sadness to think of the ordeal they experienced. I wanted to stop everyone I saw and shout 'This is my uncle!'

She added|: "Thank you so much for helping to keep alive the memory of these wonderful young men who answered their country's call unselfishly and without hesitation, believing as Kipling did, 'What stands if freedom fail? Who dies if England lives?'

"Through this book, you make them live again." We Will Remember Them consists of 96 colour pages and tells the Great War stories of dozens of Black Country men and women on the front line and on the Home Front and is packed with more than 120 stories, plus pictures.

It would make an ideal and not too expensive gift for Father's Day this Sunday (June 15). We will post the book direct for £4.95, with free postage within the UK. Call The Bugle on 01384 567678.
