Smith commits future to Warrington
Former England head coach Tony Smith has signed a contract extension with Warrington that will keep him at the Halliwell Jones Stadium until November 2015.
Smith, 45, has guided the Wolves to three Challenge Cup victories in four years since joining them as head of coaching and rugby in 2009 and earlier this month took them to their first Grand Final, but he says he has some unfinished business at the club.
"I'm excited about our future," he said. "I'm pleased with the progress that we've made so far in the time that I've been here and I'm looking forward to hopefully progressing further."
Smith added: "We've got some terrific young players coming through which is really exciting and I am expecting that they will take us to some new levels.
"I think there are some exciting guys coming through, such as Ben Currie and Brad Dwyer, who have already contributed, but I'm expecting them to come through even more.
"And the likes of Rhys Evans, Ben Evans, James Laithwaite, Jordan Burke, Ryan Shaw, James Mendeika, Danny Bridge, James Saltonstall and Glenn Riley who are all going to be pushing for positions next year.
"There is depth within our squad and these young guys, who now have a year of full-time training under their belt, will be much more prepared for the rigours of Super League."
Smith has been coaching in England for a decade, after initially paying his own air fare from Australia to attend an interview at Huddersfield in 2001.
After joining Leeds he masterminded two Grand Final wins and took out British nationality after being appointed Great Britain coach in 2007.
