Mystery football photograph linked to Wordsley oldster
A FEW weeks back, in November, we published the photograph (right), asking for details on the young team which had won a trophy back in 1948.
Whilst no more information has been forthcoming in this regard, we do have a little more to add about thegentleman at the centre of the photograph, thanks to 89 years old Mrs L. M. Porter of Pensnett, who writes..
“The name of Mr Hollis, Boatfold, Wordsley, was mentioned.
This gentleman has passed away a good few years ago now, on the Isle of Man.
“They used to have a workshop in Boatfold, where theymade slabs, garden ornaments etc. They had two daughters Daisy and Margaret. Daisy married the motor cycle champion Geoff Jukes of TT fame. The family is still on the Isle of Man. I hear from them regularly. I'm sending the cutting from the paper on to them as I am sure the gentleman is Albert Hollis”.
