Driver comes forward as girl hurt
A 36-year-old man has handed himself in to police after a four-year-old girl was critically injured in an apparent hit-and-run.
West Midlands Police said the unnamed driver handed himself in at a Birmingham police station and was voluntarily interviewed in relation to the collision. His car was also seized.
The girl was hit by a car on College Road, Kingstanding, after she became separated from her mother and went into the road.
She remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering multiple injuries, police said.
Part of College Road near the fire station was closed for a short while as forensic investigators examined the scene.
A force spokesman added inquiries are ongoing.
Any witnesses are asked to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
