STOURBRIDGE musician Bev Pegg swapped his guitar for a racket and won the UK National Over 70s Racketball Championship event held at Edgbaston Priory Club on weekend 20th – 22nd June 2014.

Bev won the Over 70s National Championship in 2012, but was unable to enter the 2013 event due to the date clashing with his band playing at The Upton Jazz Festival.

However, he regained his title on Sunday 22nd June by beating last year's champion, Rod Embley 3-2 in the final.

"Playing three long hard matches in under 22 hours is pretty strenuous when you are 72 years old," said Bev. "My body aches a little bit I must admit!"
