I WAS interested in the article about Frank Mansell in The Bugle (June 12 edition).
My great uncle, Alfred Reynolds, is also buried in Lijssenthoek Cemetery.
Alfred was born in West Bromwich and was an iron moulder when war broke out.
He enlisted in the Ox & Bucks in 1915 and was wounded on August 23, 1917, while taking part in an attack near Glencorse Wood just outside Ypres.
He was taken to the clearing station at Lijssenthoek and died of wounds on August 24.
I thought readers, who also have relatives buried there, might be interested to know a visitors' centre has been opened recently at the cemetery.
They are trying to find details of all the casualties buried there. They have a website www.lijssenthoek.be/en
You can search by casualty name or by place of birth or profession. I have entered details about my great uncle.
It would be good to enter details about Frank and any other local men so that they can be remembered and their bravery celebrated.
