RAY STOKES has been in touch via email and forwarded to us these two photographs from his school days at Dudley Grammar. Ray tells us:

"In the 1950s there were three football teams which represented the Grammar School.

"1. The Junior Team. To qualify you had to be under 15 at the start of the school year.

"2. The Second XI, which was made up of mostly 5th and 6th formers.

"3. The First XI, which was mostly 6th formers up to the age of 19, with one or two 5th formers.

"In some years there was an Under 13 XI too."

The first photograph shows the Junior XI of 1951-1952.

They were, from left in the back row: Barry Kite, Ray Stokes, Don Yorke, John Smith, Alan Taylor, Sid Jones, John Darby (Linesman).

Front row: Keith Jones, Fred Tennant, Les Farmer, Eddie Cunnett, Alan Brooker (Captain).

The other photo shows the Second XI of 1952-53.

Back row: Eddie Cunnett, Alan Taylor, Les Farmer, Tony Clift, Don Yorke, Sid Jones.

Front row: Ray Stokes, Stuart Williams, Alan Holmes,Graham Vick, Alan Brooker (Captain).

During those years the teams were under the supervision of the Sports Master, Mr Joe Morgan.

We're always looking for old sports photographs, whether from school days or later, and all sports are welcome. If you'd like to share your photographs with us, send them in to the usual address, give us a call, or email gjones@blackcountrybugle.co.uk.
