WHEN the Hippodrome was in its heyday, only top-of-the-bill stars stayed in hotels, the supporting acts stayed in digs in Bunns Lane, Dudley.

Stars such as Winifred Atwell, David Nixon, David Hughes, Billy Cotton's Band, Charlie Chester, Tommy Cooper stayed in Watson's Green Road. Larry Grayson stayed with us. One Saturday afternoon we had Stan Stennett and Eric Morecambe watching a FA Cup match in our kitchen. Those were the days.

Sylvia Turner,

Rowley Regis.
