I AM writing to ask if any of The Bugle readers have any information regarding a company called Swallow Raincoats which operated during the last world war.
It made uniforms for the soldiers.
The company was located on the Bulpitts site, Dudley Road/Spring Hill Junction at the corner of Icknield Port Road, Birmingham.
It was then changed to Swan.
The reason for me asking for information is that my mother used to work there during the war and I was interested to see what the history was behind the company.
Also mom used to be on the No. 8 buses during the blackouts as a conductress.
Would any of your readers also have any information on this?
It was the Midland Red Garage then.
I think it was located in Bearwood Road. Please contact me at the address below.
PS I enjoy reading your paper.
