REGULAR readers may recall a Whitmore Reans, Wolverhampton school football team who appeared in our 26th December edition last year.

It was provided by Geoff Alford, of Merry Hill, Wolverhampton, and Geoff has put another one our way now, as he explains:

"In the Boxing Day edition of the Bugle, you published my photo of St Andrew's school football team of 1959-60.As a follow-up, I thought you might be interested in seeing a photo of the whole class of that year. All names are provided, and a couple of lads have contacted me since they saw the letter in that edition."

The names of that class of '59 are as follows. From left in the back row: Ian Green, Geoff Alford, John Round, Ronald Potter, Barry Wheeler, Leslie Key, David Stokes, Robert Craddock, Kevan Piper, Mr Ted Pearson.

Second row from back: Richard Smith, John Smeeton, Pearl Townsend, Susan Davies, Maureen Heath, Janet Taylor, Jennifer Biddlestone, Pauline Smart, Jennifer Bower, Robert Davies.

Third row from back: Jennifer Ranger, Veronica Myers, Susan Carrier, Susan Wilkes, Janet Whittingham, Linda Rutter, Anne Cook.

Front row: Roy Sedgwick, Barry Tomkins, Kenneth Grahame, David Purchase, David Kyle, John Semjonoves.

"We were around 11 years old when this was taken before setting off to various senior schools in Wolverhampton," Geoff adds, "so some have recently reached the 65 milestone and others are imminent.

"As far as I can recall only two boys went on to grammar school and maybe a couple of girls did. Jennifer Bower was the daughter of the vicar of St Andrews Church, Rev Bower, and she also had two younger brothers, Paul and Nicholas, who attended the school."

If you have old school photographs you'd like to share, bring them in, give us a call or email them to gjones@blackcountrybugle.co.uk
