THANKS to Roy Langford for recounting his yesterdays spent with grandparents at Oakeywell Street, Dudley, recently featured in The Bugle.

During the wartime years, as a young lad, I'd regularly visit Oakeywell Street. Legging it up Trindle Road into King Street, then along Flood Street to Oakeywell to my venue the former Hanson's Brewery Malt House, I believe, situated behind the Alma Inn. The Victorian building had probably produced brewing grain hence the positioning of the floor trap doors allowing for the hoisting of grain sacks.

I never did discover what the factory, beyond Oakeywell dwellings, manufactured during wartime. Can any readers help?

T. Taplow,

Warwickshire.
