QUARRY Bank Musical Theatre Society, who prior to this year were known as Quarry Bank Operatic Society have a busy year ahead.

As well as the name change, the society are moving their performance venue to Brierley Hill Civic Hall from their home since the sixties, Netherton Arts Centre.

"It is a much bigger venue, so we have many more tickets to sell," the society's publicity manager Kathryn Head told us, "but knowing the popularity of our show The Sound Of Music, we hope to sell out!"

The performances run from 3 to 7 June, starting at 7.30pm, with a matinee on the Saturday afternoon.

QBMTS have also announced a new president, Brian Genner of Quarry Bank. Brian was the first Chairman of the Society when it was formed in the 1960s, and was instrumental in building the funds for the relocation of the company from the then-brand new Quarry Bank Community Centre to perform larger scale productions at Netherton Arts Centre.

"It is therefore fitting that Brian takes an official role in the society during what is to be a momentous year," added Kathryn.

"We're honoured that Brian has accepted the role, and will be taking advantage of his vast knowledge and experience in order to ensure the success and growth of the society."

Tickets for the June production are available now priced £10/£11, with concessions for families and children under 16. The ticket hotline is: 07913884208. Bookings can also be made at the website: www.qbmts.org.
