THE Black Country Bugle was awarded a regional newspaper award last Thursday evening at Villa Park, Birmingham.
From a record entry of more than 320 journalists in newspapers and media groups from Shropshire to Lincolnshire the paper won the Headline of the Year category in the Midlands Media Awards 2014. The one chosen was written by editor John Butterworth and was entitled Has Dudley Council lost the plot?
This was the story about the missing graveyard in King Street which the council said they owned, but a week later decided it was not their plot. At the evening with 300 guests the judges said it was "a simple, but brilliant headline."
Congratulations also go to Andrew Taylor, aged 21, of 31 Margaret Close, Quarry Bank, and now a student at Staffordshire University, who won Blogger of the Year at the same event.
