There were cheers and applause as a new £2.7m school block was officially opened by the Bishop of Aston, the Right Reverend Andrew Watson.
Pupils, staff, governors, parents and Sandwell Council’s children’s boss Councillor Simon Hackett attended the grand opening at Christchurch Church of England Primary in Oldbury last week.
Bishop Watson cut a ribbon to unveil a plaque before parents were given a tour of the new block, which includes new classrooms, assembly area and dining hall.Head teacher Michaela Long said: "This is a wonderful new facility which gives us the room to cater for all our children and will ensure we continue to offer everyone an opportunity to fulfil their potential."
Sandwell Council worked with the Diocese of Birmingham and the school on the expansion scheme, project managed by Sandwell Futures, the local education partnership
Councillor Simon Hackett said: "This is a great scheme and shows what can be achieved when we work together.
"Christ Church is one of several schools in Sandwell to expand to meet soaring demand caused by significant increases in the birth rate and more people choosing to live in the borough."
