THREE residents of a Black Country care home enjoyed a unique triple celebration as they toasted their birthdays which are all on the same day.
Abele View Care Home's Patricia Harper, Janet Parker and Lilly Webber were all born on 28 January, with Patricia turning 77, Janet turning 76 and Lilly, one of the care home's oldest residents, celebrating her 95th birthday.
As part of the celebrations, staff at the Stourbridge home pulled out all the stops to arrange a day of fun for the birthday girls, who have a collective age of 248, and invited their friends and families.
The 29-resident care home organised local entertainer Tom Wenlock to sing old time songs from the 1930s to 1950s while the home's chef made a special birthday cake and laid on a buffet.
"Patricia, Janet and Lillian are all wonderful women and we wanted to make sure they all enjoyed their special day, particularly as it was a very special triple celebration," said Abele View's care manager Patricia Stevenson.
"We constantly put on special events here at Abele View and our residents and their families get involved in everything that we do. The triple birthday party was no different and it was a fantastic day with lots of singing and laughter.
"This was the latest in a long line of celebrations we're planning this year for our residents."
Patricia Harper is born and bred in Stourbridge and married husband Patrick in 1961. She has two sons, Ian and Keith. A talented singer, Patricia used to be the lead singer in the Gilbert & Sullivan Society.
Janet is originally from Shenstone and had a long career in the care industry. She married husband Ron in 1958 and she has three daughters and five grandchildren. Another talented musician, Janet played the piano and organ to a high standard.
Lilly, the eldest of the trio, is the youngest of nine children and was brought up in Smethwick. She married Archie in 1938 and had five generations of her family at the birthday celebrations. A big fan of ballroom dancing, Lilly's sister Elsie will be 100 in April.
