MRS Kathleen Fryer will be 100 years old this Saturday and she's celebrating with a party at her local Congregational Church in Bilston.

Kathleen's daughter Suzanne Cooper said: "I think there will be nearly 100 at the church that Mom still attends every week. She has been active all her life and that is probably what has kept her going, always looking on the positive side.

"It is sad she never knew her father, Bert Horton, who died at the Battle of the Somme on July 20, 1916, when she was barely 30 months old. But she still visits the Darlaston War Memorial every Remembrance Day where his name is on the plaque."
